Sibelius 3 Articulation?
I’m creating a fusion of African Music and Rock music on Sibelius but I’m finding it difficult to add articulation to the musical intstruments. I am writing for Drum Kit, Djembe, Marimba, Bass, Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar.
I want to create a sound on the guitar as you would get when using alternate picking or strumming. I am writing this as a quaver followed by 2 semi-quavers (an 8th note followed by 2 16th notes) I want these three notes to have alternate picking/strumming effects as otherwise it just plays the three chords like short stacatto notes, and sounds far too perfect and raw for this particular style where I would prefer to have a smooth subtle sound. If not, it doesn’t really sound like Rock music, more like stiff juttered classical chords.
Any help would be appreciated 
I don’t know anything at all about Sibelius 3 (I’m a Finale user) but I just checked out my demo copy of Sibelius 4. It has a plug-in called the strummer, which creates strummed articulations for any selected passages; I just created a couple of measures of the eighth/two sixteenths pattern and when I added the “strummer” feature it sounded far closer to the nuances of rhythm guitar than I’ve ever gotten out of any Finale product.
If Sibelius 3 doesn’t have this feature (or someone else has another solution) you might consider an upgrade; each time MakeMusic upgrades PrintMusic (the Finale product I use most) the new features (and the time and effort they save) are usually well worth the $30 update fee.
