Active & Direct X???
When downloading PC games, they asked to install Active or Direct X. What are they and will these programs cause problems to my PC?
Active X is software.
Direct X is hardware (video card / sound card /etc)
You need Direct X drivers (aka hardware) for certain games.
Check your hardware. It says what Direct X version they were designed from. If it says anything other that DirectX 9 then it is old and might not be able to handle high end graphics. If its an audio card then you might not get all the rich sounds added to that game.
Active X is software so it can be used with just about anything. Games, internet, email, IMs, etc. Regular patches from MS constantly update your Active X version. This is important for some games because they require certain privileges not normally given to basic software.
