Apogee Duet / SM57 problems?
I have an apogee duet, using sm57 mic. Im not using logic yet. its still downloading, so im using garage band for now.
when i Plug in my sm57 and send it through my duet and into my soundboard i get beautiful sound. but when i try to record it… it sounds like ****. I dont know what could be wrong?
When you send the signal from the duet to the mixer, it is analog and you are monitoring it in real time – right?
You said it sounds bad – is it a buzzing sound like digital interference?
When you send the signal to your computer, you are sending it via Firewire which is digital. Many people have problems with USB or Firewire interfaces because the digital signal ends up interfering with the sensitive mic or audio lines – it is sort of a catch 22. You can try moving the cables around to see if that fixes it. Sometimes even the computer itself can cause interference. There really is no easy fix for this – try different cables and placing them differently. The software that came with the Duet may help.
