Spray painting cabinet handles and hinges…?
Our existing kitchen cabinet hardware is dark-worn-brass which no longer goes with the other updates we’ve made. We like the look (style/shape) of them, but would like to re-color them to a stainless steel color. We’ve cleaned them up and attempted several different spray paint colors that offer a metalic grey, but haven’t quite reached the color that we want. Mostly they are turning out too bright, or too metalic. Or both.
Has anyone tried to achieve a stainless steel color this way. Any tips? Know of any suppliers of specialty spray paints beyond the usual Home Depot / Lowe’s selection?
try putting one coat on of a matte black spray paint let that dry properly . then use the metallic grey on it.
or…i know one person who has used Krylon Metallic Leafing and Smoke Gray mixed together, and painted it with a very good brush and got a pretty good result with that
Just make sure to properly degrease, and prime the surface before painting to guarantee adhesion.
